Freak the Mighty chapter 1- about 6
I have read this book before but even the second time it is still good because it was a long time ago when I read it. The book is very interesting because its from the perspective of a mentally delayed kid and usually it would be from the perspective of freak because he is more so called smart and would be more likely to write something like this. They both are very easy to relate to. My favorite part about the book is the character development. Due to the great amount of detail you can sort of see every second of it come to life in your head. I wonder if someone who had those different disabilities would act like that. I am also curious if the author of this book had one of these disabilities. It also seems like the author mixed different disabilities (for example it seemed like freak had both autism and towards the end cystic fibrosis). Maybe they mixed different disabilities to give the perfect personality and way of acting to the character. But no matter what you can not say that this book is not very well written and does not do a good job of promoting acceptance of "Freaks"(not meant to call them freaks just well you get it). Ok so I found some history of the author online. He has written many books under different names to build a bigger fan base. He has written mostly adult mysterys, thrillers, or medical suspense books.
